Two days ago, Bethesda Softworks has showed us some Fallout 4 gameplay footage at E3 2015. From the footage we can see a lot of changes (really a lot) compare with Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
The graphic of Fallout 4 has great improvement, although some players said the colour palette makes the game 'cartoony', I still think the overall resolution has been enhanced, and future updates may narrow down the colour palette a bit to create a post-apocalyptic landscape.
Additionally, Fallout fans can be pretty sure that the protagonist has finally got his/her own voice! As shown in the gameplay, the protagonist talked with his Mister Gutsy after leaving Vault 111. I was amazed by all the work Bethesda had done on voice acting, every dialogue option of the protagonist had been dubbed, plus the animation that comes along with the your choice.
But the new feature that really stunned me is the
construction system. I have played Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas before, and the 'homes' aren't realistic enough, they are just rooms that let you take a nap or store your items, a temporary place for the player to rest. But in Fallout 4, I can build a whole settlement by myself, furthermore, I can set up defenses and produce items for trading, which means one may earn a living by running a successful outpost instead of doing quests. There are areas that a player can fully control and manage at last.
At the same time, Fallout 4 has introduced a brand new crafting system in the whole series. In the past, players can only craft miscellaneous items like ammo or booby traps. However, in the gameplay we can see the vast range of weapon customization, a simple baseball bat can be turned into a zombie killing hardware (don't worry, there is no zombies in Fallout, but there are ghouls instead).
Last but not least, new modes of transportation are available in Fallout 4, we can now ride Vertibirds or fly with jetpacks! But I absolutely want cars/motorcycles to be implemented in this game, that will take Fallout to a whole new level, imagine the protagonist
riding his improvised car crashing bandits to save his settlement, how cool it is!
