Top 5 Overrated Weapons In FPS Games - Real Life Comparison

weapons in battlefield game series

Guns are almost an inseparable part of modern video games. While developers had started to balance out their in-game weaponry in recent shooters, some of them remained overrated as usual, down below are 5 overrated guns in FPS games.

1. Desert Eagle

Desert Eagle had made a name for itself in Counter Strike, bunch of films and TV series. Since then a lot of games add this pistol in their weaponry and turned it into a badass.

desert eagle cs go gameplay   In CS games, Desert Eagle deals significantly more damage than some 7.62 rifles like AK. Since then players loved this gun and exaggerated its abilities.

However, in reality, Desert Eagle is not welcomed by armies or enforcement agencies, because of the high price and heavy recoil. One can buy 3-4 glock pistols with the same amount of money for a Deagle. At the same time it's well-known for its recoil, search some videos about that on Youtube, and you'll get plenty of them. It surely kicks like a bull.

The desert eagle is overall a fancy pistol in real life, having an exotic outlook, it is impractical in action.

2. Uzi

Gangsters' favourite! Player's impresson: A few masked thugs riding a sedan empty their uzi at a shop refusing to pay them.

Uzi's rapid fire rate makes it a threatening sidearm. In video games like GTA, they are an alternative solution for gangsters seeking firepower. Also it seemed that they can't part with criminals.

The truth is, Uzi is no longer popular. It once was, but not at all now. The Uzi was developed shortly after WW2, when close quarter gunfights happened a lot. It's a great weapon of choice for armies at that time as its high fire rate compensated the need to aim at close range.

Nevertheless, with the advancement in body armor and weapons technologies, the importance of short range weapons is lowered. Additionally, the inability to penetrate basic bulletproof vests further lessen its military use.

So it is unpopular to no use in armies now, how about gangsters? Still the same. A brand new full auto Uzi cost around $5000 dollars according to some buyers, while semi auto ones cost around $1000. Gangsters wandering on the street don't have too much cash to spend, they would rather buy a few revolvers instead of a Uzi.

3. Double barrel shotguns

payday 2 game mosconi 12g double barrel shotgun  In FPS games, double barrel shotguns are beasts that kill every creature in their firing range. No matter how tough you are, you aren't going to survive a blast from these guns right at your body. And for the users, aiming is not a concern, just find your target, get close to him and pull the trigger.

In reality, using these bad boys aren't really that cool. First off they have insane recoil, which forces you to shoot slowly. Also, reloading them is a harsh task in the middle of a gunfight.

And after going through these, they need aiming to use. Most people misunderstood shotguns, thinking that their pellets will spread everywhere and aiming at your target's direction is good enough. In fact, even you fired both shells from about 10 meters away, the hit area is pretty small, it's just slightly larger than average human body size.

4. AK-47

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying AK-47 is a poor assault rifle, but in real life it is not as strong as itself inside games.

In the virtual world, AK-47 usually deals great amount of damage, have decent accuracy and fire rate. For example in Payday 2, Battlefield series.

In military aspect, AK-47 is one of best weapon of choice for soldiers, particularly in third world countries, due to its low purchasing and maintenance cost while being able to provide above-average firepower.

However, AK-47 is not accurate at all. Its damage/penetration power and fire rate isn't significantly higher than other guns, as there are bunch of 7.62s around.

Individually, AK-47 is an average gun. But in warfare, AK-47 is one of the best options.

5. RPG-7

rpg-7 battlefield hardline gameplay  Simply wield a RPG-7 in a multiplayer match, and you will easily become one of the main targets of the enemy team. Whether it is an object or a human, RPG will destroy things it hit completely. If you are lucky enough to sit inside a tank, you can withstand a few hits, but anything more than that will be a death sentence. This is how RPG works in video games.

Outside FPS games, RPG-7 is an awesome anti-material weapon, quite a number of armies purchased this hardware in bulk as one of their main anti-tank weapons.

But video games exaggerated its ability way too much, in real battles, RPG rarely blow tanks up, instead they are used to damage the engine, tracks or fuel tank. The rockets won't explode into a fireball like what games or movies showed us. RPG is good, but not that good.

My list ends here, hope you've learnt something this time!
