Preview On Star Wars Battlefront 3
A decade after the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2, its sequel was announced at E3 2015. The release date of Star Wars Battlefront 3 is said to be in November, and that drives me crazy as it will crash with Fallout 4! But my wallet doesn't allow me to get them both. :(
Anyway let's go back on topic. Star Wars Battlefront 3 is 10 years away from its predecessor, so much more features will be available in the game. I won't talk about its improvements comparing with the rest of the series because we can treat SWB 3 as a fresh new game, it comes from a new game generation.
First of all, we can see that the gameplay is well-balanced. It's perfectly okay for a player to travel in the map without vehicles. There are advantages of being an infantry, a walker or a pilot.
From the footage, infantries are used to capture objectives, and they can be as threatening as walkers with rocket launchers. They also possess a wide range of weaponry that boost their flexibility in the game. However, they are extremely vulnerable if all of their items are depleted.
The walkers on the other hand can clear out battalions in seconds, bursting out tons of damage wherever they go. But they move really slow which makes them an easy target for missiles.
Starfighters have great mobility in the game, they can support infantries or even bring down walkers, however, from my observation their overall damage output is small. Also enemies can bring them down with ease by placing an accurate shot.
In the previous game, players can feel that walkers outweigh infantries a lot, and sometimes people compete for walkers in multiplayer mode. In the latest game infantries seemed to play a much more important role throughout a match. That is the greatest change in the series, and, indeed, it is great. With balanced vehicles, players are encouraged to choose different roles according to the game situation. Which makes the multiplayer mode realistic.
Another good deed this game does: Grenades were bought back to its glory days! Their blast is just amazing.
Additionally, players might be able to control heroes/villians as far as we know. And of course they can use force in the battlefield to fight. It's cool to let players using main characters outside singleplayer. I can't wait to control Darth Vader and massacre everyone!
However, the map is not destructible as seen in the footage. That is a disappointment for me. But there are lots of defence structures like turrets which can be blown up, so it still looks stunning when you rain down mortars on enemy outposts.
Let's look forward to Star Wars Battlefront 3. Wish it can get itself into the best games of 2015. It will be wonderful to see a Star War game with promising quality again.
